The UK’s only Blossom Trail, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world, celebrates its 30th birthday in Spring 2013.

Worcestershire 's Vale of Evesham - often referred to as the Garden of England - has been famous for its many varieties of fruit since Medieval times. The 50-mile Blossom Trail is a riot of pink and white flowers comprising apple, pear, plum, damson and cherry blossom. When the blossom is at its best, it’s also meant to be a sign that spring has officially started.

People can walk, cycle or drive the Blossom Trail by themselves or they can take one of the official Blossom Coach Tours. As well as enjoying the spectacular scenery, the tour takes in a host of farm shops, pubs and nurseries who all celebrate the Blossom Trail and attempt to make the connection between blossom and fruit through themed produce, menus and demonstrations for example Apple scones, Blossom Marmalade, Pershore Plum Jam and Blossom Cake.

Commenting on the Blossom Trails’ 30th birthday, organiser Angela Tidmarsh said:
“The trail began 30 years ago, almost by chance. Local Geoff Perks had worked on the fruit farms all his life. He died at 84 after seeing the blossom come into flower one last time - his final wish was to have his coffin drawn eight miles along the blossom trail.

It became a local tradition to walk the trail in his memory. Today, the trail extends to almost 50 miles taking in the Cotswold village of Broadway at its most southern point, Pershore to the west and charmingly named places such as Wyre Piddle en route. The beautiful, blossom-filled hedgerows are also supposedly the inspiration for Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

This year we’ll be celebrating 30 years with Blossom Coach tours, Blossom Tour Guides, and even a Blossom Trail Bikeaway"
