I think it's often the
thought of taking them that's worse

It's not nice, but it's an essential part of keeping pigs and rearing your own.
But look at it from your pigs point of view - they've had a great life with you (outside, sun on their backs, snouts in the mud and I bet, more than one or two treats and tummy rubs

) much better than any of their commercial relations will have had
