Ixworth chickens
« on: February 16, 2013, 09:30:37 am »
We have hatched an Ixworth chick out of a mixed batch of eggs. I'm thinking its a boy, as its not really cheaping anymore and its fighting with the others at 2 weeks old!

Are all Ixworths this strong? Can't keep him as I don't think our Indian Game boy will put up with him (he lives happily with 3 other younger, quiet boys). If they are a strong breed I'd love to hatch some girls!

Does anyone breed/keep them?
Old and rare breed Ducks, chickens, geese, sheep, guinea pigs, 3 dogs, 3 cats, husband and chicks brooding in the tv cabinate!

Ixworths are a great breed but often overlooked because they are plain old white. Cockerels make super table birds and the girls are great layers. Good utility bird.

Tucked away on the downs in wiltshire.
