Egg withdrawal period after meds
« on: June 07, 2012, 06:27:19 pm »
How long after treating hens is it safe to start using eggs again and/or selling them?

I know flubenvet pellets don't have a withdrawal period but I am thinking of spot on I used on Monday which isn't licensed for hens so doesn't say ::) and trying to think of other skin based treatments rather than dietary ones..

Any ideas?  I thought I might use a week's worth myself before selling any but that's a whole lot of eggs :o

1% deltamethrin - for cattle it's 17 days withdrawal for meat, none for milk, but hens I've no idea ;)

There was no adverse reaction to 5 drops per bird and fingers crossed I can see some black spots on their baldy bits so it looks like new feathers may be emerging after 3 months trying everything else..

I will not use any eggs for 7 days from treatment minimum unless the person that recommended it on another thread says differently - might cook them up and feed back to the chooks tho with some rice or something if nobody thinks that's an issue?

Seems a waste of 4 dozen odd eggs to just throw them in the compost..
