ScotEID and pig movements
« on: April 29, 2012, 11:32:14 pm »
I've registed with ScotEid, and am trying to get to grips with it but.............when i bought my pigs, the man just took a copy of my holding number and said he completes everything for the movement online so i don't have to do anything.....is this correct? and if he's done it, shouldn't i be able to see it on my ScotEid page?  Sorry, but as you know i'm new to all this!  Piggies are coming on well by the way x

It should show up for you to recieve it, but possibly because you're a new user it's not set-up yet  ;)
If you phone the number on the website during office hours you'll get straight through to a real person who'll sort it out for you
Glad to hear they're doing well  ;D

I phoned, and it sounds like there is a terrible mess with this one - there was someone else that bought 5 pigs the same day as me from the same place and they'd already rang with the same problem.  Apparantly they're trying to get hold of the guy we got them from to sort it out, but he hung the phone up on her last time, and he didn't know his Holding number?!  Nothing i can do but wait for her to call me back, hopefully to say its all sorted out.

Oh dear  :-\
At least by phoning to tell them, you've kept yourself in the clear and not done anything wrong
But oh boy ! For someone breeding and selling pigs NOT to know their holding number  ::) (I know mine off by heart as I'm sure most folk do  ;)) it doesn't sound terribly encouraging or proffessional  ???

The seller MUST give you a copy of the movement licence, ??? if you are stopped by a wee policeman who really is up on the animal movements he can be within his rights to say that these animals have been stolen, no paperwork leads to suspicions, the paperwork must have his cph number, and your cph, the destination details, the length of the journey, the vehicle reg, the driver, for him to take a copy of your number he is in the wrong, doing them online they need to be signed off and you have to have all the id number as well.  :pig: :pig: :pig:
