3 weeks ago I was overrun with eggs, pickling, frying and scrambling all the time. Now I have 5 girls all gone broody and the rest have decided to either lay their eggs by the broodies so they get incubated or they lay them on the floor where they tend to get eaten or they are having a moult. I picked up some eggs from under one broody the other day and had to candle them all as I noticed the start of an embryo in one (must have missed it in the straw). So now having to double check every one. Arrgghh! Why won't they go broody when you want them to but act like buses all coming at once.
