I think we have used less than ten stamps first or second combined ) this last year.. everything goes or arives via the internet
We tend to use the wiigh and pay in a small PO close to us as most of what we send is not ready sixed for the Uk Po sizes.
I recently had a pal send me ten dwarf broad bean seeds in a normal envelpoe , they had a bit of small bubble wrap around them and a first class stamp , it was way under weight .
I get a ticket to go six miles and collect a package for the area parcel point and find I have to pay .. 12p extra post , £1 handling charge and 20% VAT.
Reason the seeds had slipped down the envelope and it did not pass freely through the PO's sizing guage you had to drop it in from three inches away instead..
i wonder if it was measured automatically in the sorting offices with laser beams set a 0.5 mm below their true allowed sizes
Roll on the time when I can weigh my own mail and print off my own docket ( traceable back to only me ) to stick or print onto the envelope and have it auto checked and debbited from my bank acount .
