Any kindle experts out there?
« on: April 10, 2012, 03:37:48 pm »
I have no problem downloading books from Amazon as it is done by wifi, but a friend has given me a cd with loads of books on it so I tried to transfer some of them onto my kindle.  When I plug it in the screen flashes and it seems to flip on and off. So instead of being able to drag and drop my books from the folder on the PC top the documents folder on the kindle it tells me the location doesn't exist - any ideas folks?  I managed to pull over two books when I did it smartish but I think I've lost the speed knack.  :'(

Hi, I am no expert but when my OH was given a cd with loads of books on it he put it onto the laptop then downloads each book onto the kindle he wants to read from there.

Another option is to email them to your Kindle. In the Settings (page 2 for mine) on your Kindle you'll find your Kindle Email address - email the books to this address as attachments and in a short while they'll be on your Kindle.

You need to whitelist the email address you're sending from - you do this at Amazon on the Personal Document Settings page in your account.

Also when my OH did this he thought it hadn't worked but then found that all the books had come through into his archive.

That is what I am trying to do but the kindle won't stay linked to the PC long enough to download a book.  As I said I was pretty quick with the first two but haven't succeeded since.  I'll try Dan's suggestion on emails Thanks Dan.

There is a nifty free (or very low cost,  like 25p ) book on Kindle Amazon , it's called " Kindle skills from the desk of Cindy O'neal " , by Cindy O'neal .
