WANTED - Pig feed and water troughs (Near M1 J24)
« on: February 17, 2012, 01:12:09 pm »
Hi,

We are needing more feed and water troughs. 3' and 4' feed troughs ideally or Mexican Hat style would be fine.  Also water troughs with or without service box.

Does anyone have any for sale? ....or can recommend where to purchase them. At the moment I am looking at http://www.cwg.co.uk/

Many thanks

Pete

Pete, if you can't find any of those you're looking for, try these:
http://www.farmandcountrysupplies.co.uk/-rubber-skip-11li.ir?cName=equine-yard-field-troughs-skips
They're inexpensive, and you slip them into a car tyre for stability. We use 3 similar ones, spread throughout the pigs' field and they're easy to empty when dirty or move to a dry spot.

Thanks Eve,
I've previously usd the yellow builders bucket like the one below in an old tyre but your suggestion looks more robust (i.e. pig proof!)

There's a place called Penderfeed does metal hook on troughs - you'll find them by googling  ;)
Also, for auto-drinkers & troughs try GE Barker or Fisher Alvin (ebay have some too - but more expensive and probably from the same companies  ;))

Edit - We've used the tyre bowls with great success - deffo recommend them too for being pig proof and none too dear
