Hello from South Africa
« on: December 21, 2011, 08:34:09 pm »
I have been a smallholder for about 20 years, but have only become a "proper" smallholder in the past year, with keeping my horse at home (kept in livery before), then starting meat rabbit farming, then acquiring chickens and some sheep as company for my horse.  I came across this site in my search for info on tanning the skins of my rabbits.  It really looks like a very helpful site, and it is nice to see what people with the same interestes as myself, are doing, elsewhere in the world!

Welcome from the north-west of England

4 fat native ponies starting (very unwillingly) to slim down on winter forage here - but if they didn't lose it over winter they'd get laminitis for sure come the spring grass!
Don't listen to the money men - they know the price of everything and the value of nothing

Live in a cohousing community with small farm for our own use.  Dairy cows (rearing their own calves for beef), pigs, sheep for meat and fleece, ducks and hens for eggs, veg and fruit growing
