Merry Christmas!
« on: December 25, 2011, 11:34:24 am »
Hope you all have a lovely day.  We've got a force 12 hurricane today (again) so feeding was a challenge!
Animals all fed and watered, now to feed the humans.

Merry Christmas!

Just been on a mammoth feeding round here in pouring rain and a foul cold wind.  Everyone had extra hay and a good helping of hard feed where needed, the in lamb ewes who aren't due yet got a trailer of fodder beet in each field.  And everyone who like gingernuts got at least one so it took over 3 hours.  Spent not enough time talking to my Christmas presents.  Lambing starts any time from 1st January so those ewes have free access to the barn at the moment and clearly have no intention of going anywhere cold and wet unless it is to taunt the rams on the other side of the track who lack a nice cosy barn.

Now sitting here with a nice warm glow happy in the knowledge all the animals have enough food and thinking I wouldn't swap this for a conventional Christmas for anything.

Merry Christmas to all.
Very quiet here, sheep all went to market,1 horse sold, 1 pony out on loan, pigs in the freezer, geese in ovens just left with a few ducks and about 30 hens so I am having an easy time and I HATE IT, really missing the animals, I was looking forward to getting my Galloways in the spring but have heard that SEPA are going to stop allowing grazing along the river banks and as the river runs through my best field I am in trouble,
