I've picked out my little boy
« on: October 18, 2011, 05:38:19 pm »
Its so exciting, I choose my poodle puppy today but he can't come home with me until 29th October.

I have named him Archie. They are going to start using the name so that he gets used to it.

In the meantime I am going to knit him a coat to keep him warm.  I will post pics once he settles in.

What size/colour is he? Archie is a perfect name, dignified yet friendly, like poodles :) :)

That's so exciting!

More details!  Colour?  Size?  What made Archie the one for you?

Congratulations and looking forward to hearing / seeing more

Archie is a black miniature poodle.  He spent most of the time chewing my OH's shoe laces. He wasn't the most boisterous of the puppies but is still very playful and enjoyed a cuddle with me.

We met both his mum and dad. Dad is a show dog and apparently Archie 'stands' the best of the bunch. Not that I intend to show him but you never know how I will feel later.

Wishing the days away now until I can bring him home :D

thanks for the interest

very exciting!
we had a black miniature, was o/h's mum's ... and a proper mummy's boy :D
they are very bright, need plenty to keep them busy and watch them around water - old Barney spent many a puppy minute in the fish pond, and when the builder became fed up of Barney carrying off his tools & put them in a bucket... He walked off with the bucket in his mouth!!

Archie is a great name - our little pig is Liberace, Archie spelt Ace

Thanks for the tip about water.  I have a fish pond so will have to keep a close eye on Archie.   OH always leaves tools lying around too.  Having Archie may teach him to be a bit tidier  ;D ;D

Barney had the knack of waiting til just before visitors came, and he'd been brushed to look his best ... then hurling himself in the algae-filled pond!
they are a water-retrieving breed, so its just nature I suppose.

and they can be "one person" dogs, loyal to the point of ridiculousness :) so train Archie as well as your o/h! :D

A girl I used to work with did mini-agility very successfully with her two miniature poodles. I love their wee balck button eyes  ;D
