5 Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays
« on: October 01, 2011, 09:01:11 am »
A few friends have posted the following on Facebook:

"GOOD LUCK EVERYONE !!~~This year October has 5 Mondays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This Happens once every 823years. This is called money bags. So copy this to your status and money will arrive within 4days. Based on Chinese Feng Shui. The one who does not copy, will be without money. Copy within 11 mins of reading.  Can't hurt so I did it."

To which I have responded, ""I don't understand. Surely this happens whenever 1st October is a Saturday? This last happened in 2005 and will happen again in 2016. What am I missing?""

It's driving me mad - I am either being thick or a smart4r5e.  Either way I guess I will get less money this month than those who are neither thick nor smart4r5es, so perhaps it's true after all?!  :D

No, you just have the problem of being numerically literate, rational and smart amidst a raft of people who aren't.   The internet allows stuff to disseminate without being processed through anyone's brain.

The story continues...

So, on The Other Place ( f ), some friends have been posting how they found £1, and is that it?

Well, today I found a £1 coin and a 5p, so was just starting to feel a bit smug at how I'd found more than they did and I didn't repost the message ... but then realised I did reproduce it here so I could ask you guys if I was missing something !  ???

Not exactly wealth beyond the dreams of avarice though.  Perhaps you're missing the other £99,998.95 - try down the back of the sofa.

I thought £1.05 for 2 hours housework was bad enough, now you want me to do the sofa?!

But NOT behind the sofa - she'll get you! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  I've seen that year thing before and I did the same mathematical mindset - it happens regularly as you say - whenever 1st October is a Saturday - but I have an excuse - I am an accountant! ;)
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Mind you if Sally had a look down the back of George Osborne's sofa she'd find loadsamoney.
