Hubby used to work for a businessman, renovating his farmhouse and converting his barn etc. plus minding his few sheep, hens, and basically doing anything on the 40 acres such as fencing. Imagine having all that land, and no livestock, or interest in livestock, but never mind!!
Anyway, the hens kept going off down the lane, into old ladies gardens, so you can imagine the hassle. I suggested a cockerel to keep the hens at home, and duly supplied a nice young buff laced. It worked, and hens stayed at home, Hubby left the farm not long ago for another job.....under a cloud as employer did not want him to leave.
Yesterday, he got a phone call, asking would he come and take the cockerel - he had moved the hens to the house where he has lived all along, and neighbours would not like the crowing. He will be moving to the farm soon I am sure, so why move the hens to somewhere they do not know?? There is one hen left with the cockerel, and he wants us to drop that at his house on the way past .......why can't he uplift both birds and drop the cockerel here?? Because he does not touch hens, nor want smelly hens in his posh car, thats why!!
As hubby pointed out, we are already over run with cockerels and do not want another. Also what am I to do with it, as its been gone two years and will either fight or get bullied here.
I said we are not having it back - if everyone took back things they gave away, we would all have big problems!! Hubby says if we don't, it will either get dumped somewhere, or he will dump it back here himself and just let it in with my hens and cockerels.
