so we all think its going to be a harsh winter? so what you all think weather is going to be? and when roughly?  i personally think it will be wet end of oct early nov then snow middle to end of november then cold over xmas wet to end of jan more snow in feb then wet and cold from there. What are other peoples opinions?

not a betting person...

but I reckon its going to be a long Autumn and Winter.
 My quail (who usually stop laying between the end of September & Easter) decided in mid-August that they'd had enough and stopped laying!
though I've had a couple of eggs (from 12 birds!) after a warm day or three.

I leave to walk to work at about 6:30am - some mornings last week were almost frosty-cold, though damp.
this in Derbyshire.

here we tend to get snow nearer February than Christmas (last year it was almost right through from mid-Dec)

Cold, crisp and mostly dry until 23rd December, then about 6 inches of snow, then cold again until 2nd January to keep the snow crisp, then a couple of warmish days for the thaw, then cold, crisp and mostly dry until the end of February when Spring will start.

Hey Rosemary love your forecast would suit me fine thanks. I dont mind cold crisp and dry and a snowy festive period sounds like just the job.  bet it will be a long cold wet winter.

Yup, I'm believing mine until proved wrong. And if it's wet one day, I shall just believe that the cold, crisp starts the next day

I was at a conference last week at Holyrood with all of the major resilience team experts. The man from the Met Office would not speculate on what was ahead - his only comment was that he would be buying snow tyres this year??? Is that hint of what is to come? £100 on a white xmas @5/1 - fill your boots.

I wish the weatherman luck in buying snow tyres,  I thought the noise abaitment people had got chunky treads banned because of road noise............stock up while you can folks.
