Jacobs for Sale Carmarthenshire
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:26:29 pm »
We have a number of Jacob shearling ewes and one older ewe for sale.  Mainly Hope, Goodleigh and Celtic lines, some registered and some unregistered.  Prices start at £100 for the unregistered girls.  If someone wanted them to run with a ram before collecting them we have Hope Hari currently working with his ewes and another group are due to join Hope Tywi shortly.  The unregistered girls are actually by Hope Bobby out of similar lines to the rest but were bred locally by an old lady who loved her sheep but lost interest in registering them.  If not sold in advance of the sale the unregistered group of 5 will be going to the coloured sheep sale at Llandovery at the end of September.

Not shopping for Jacobs I'm afraid Fronhaul, but am looking forward to the coloured sheep sale at end of Sept. Not been before.   Is it a good event?   Do they have a show or is it just a sale?   Not going with a view to buying anything though ( ;) )

They do have a show before the sale Blinkers.  Think last year I saw most coloured breeds there, lots of badger faced sheep both torddhu and torwen, bwms, jacobs, coloured ryelands, a few shetlands, balwens, zwartbles, the odd coloured texel and herdwicks and I have no doubt I have left at least one breed off this list.  It is quite hard not to be tempted.

25th September Llandovery Market.  The Jacob part of the sale is official for the first time as the Society has decided to trial regional sales rather than maintaining the National sale at Worcester.  Assuming the rest of the sale takes the same form as last year there will be show rings for all the coloured breeds common in the area.  I am leaving my cheque book at home because I overspent yesterday at Abergavenny but there will be lots of sheep to be tempted by.  The sale is part of the Llandovery Sheep Festival http://www.llandoverysheepfestival.co.uk/ .

Any idea where to get a catalogue from Fronhaul?   Can't seem to find a link on that great website - unless I just can't see it for lookin!

Cheers.

If any other TAS forum folks are going, maybe we can arrange a 'gathering' ??

I downloaded mine from the Clee Francis Tompkinson website last year Blinkers.  They didn't issue a catalogue very early though.  Entries closed yesterday.
