Just read in our local paper that three Maran cockerels were found dumped in a layby up on the busy moorland A road. Seems they had been there a few days, presumably living off grass and contents of the litter bins. Made me smile when the RSPCA said someone must know whose they are as they are very distinctive birds .......no one will admit liability I am sure. Only thing is if someone complained to a neighbour about the noise, and now its stopped, they will know whose they are.
I am amazed they managed to capture the cockerels in open country!! And also amazed that foxes had not visited!!
New homes are now being sought for these birds it seems.
