« on: May 07, 2011, 04:21:14 pm »
something has nibbled my newly emerged beans although I protected them with bottles, eaten through the growth stem of my young sweetcorn  >:( >:( no slime trail but it must have been slugs?? And I found poo in there which looks like hedgehog's ??? ??? what else has poo like that? Not rat or mouse, I'm certain ;D :&>

Depends what the nibbles look like but could be cutworms, leatherjackets, pea and bean weevil, slugs, mice - any or all of the above  ;D  If you have a hedgehog then you will have had slugs but you probably don't any more  :).

Go out at night with a torch and see who is on your leaves having a nibble

Shudder. I hate toads. I saw a seagull today swooping off with a big one (or frog) in its beak. My biggest problem each year is mice eating seeds of things like peas and beans, then the bxxxxy dogs eating the produce! It's a constant battle against predators.
