are turnip greens edible?
« on: April 18, 2011, 04:00:35 pm »
I have some left in a bed and I wondered if the leaves are edible? I put radish leaves into my salads as they are like mustard greens but not sure about turnips. I have in the back of my head that parsnip tops aren't...Would they be any good for the birds? :&>

my chickens eat any green I cut out of the veg patch, they especially love spinach and cabbage leaves. So they will love turnip tops.

Yes, you can eat them, but I find them rather bitter.

maybe it's just the seelings then as you are not supposed to eat those (unlike radish and brokkoli seedlings/sprouts) :&>
