Thanks for the info karen, will certainly look into it as don't want our girls to have birthing problems

One thing though - will the abbatoir want the offspring (KK x Berkshires) earnotched - what are the rules for taking XBerkshires, as we can't stomach the earnotching thing

- can we slap-mark or tag?

Hiya Lillian

We rang 2 abbatoirs in Paisley last year & was told that they no-longer do pigs, because of licencing & lack of requests

. Not very helpful, as couldn't even recommend anyone else

We will need to find one this year tho

Looks like it's Wishaw for us - 21 miles.

Shotts & Carluke both 37 & Dunblane 47 - don't know if our old Landy would get that far with the horse trailer

- still looking for sheep hurdles too

mcaskie farm supplies (all over Scotland) sells them and i think they will deliver they have vans that travel to farms with supplies are you wanting there number as well

You'll only need to notch pure bred pigs

Crosses going to slaughter will be fine with just a metal tag (applied the day before they leave)
