2, one year old tamworth/large black crosses
« on: March 07, 2011, 08:43:30 pm »
Would anyone like to buy these girls?

At present they are living on the isle of Gigha and were bought to rotovate a wee croft. Unfortunately they are escaping and causing minor havoc. The girl who owns them now has to get rid of them.

I cant have them as they're daughters of our pigs, and she doesn't want major money for them!

Anyone??

Someone must want them, even if its for eating!

Only £400 for the pair, ready to butcher or breed!!

Wow, that's a lot. And that's not considered major money for them?  :o

Is that major money??

I don't know, I've only ever bought weaners!!

I might ask her to re evaluate the price!

What is a decent price???

Its a nice cross, they will have cost near on £100 to feed for that time, I would possibly consider circa £150 each to reasonable??  I am not in the market however.

Agree with the other posters - the seller is asking a hell of a lot for two cross-bred pigs.

If anyone was considering butchering them, they'd probably be pretty fat by now, at a year old, so there would be a lot to throw away.

And if anyone was thinking of breeding from them a) they should have been in pig by now; b) if they were bought purely to turn over the ground, chances are they might not be up to breeding, as far as underlines, good, straight, sound legs, etc, are concerned.

Best option would be to send them for sausages/bacon. At least that way your friend would recoup some of her outlay.
