I agree, would def keep them for the time being at least, it is very difficult to get planning for an agricultural building here and would love to be in a position like that! If you get to buy the place try to make them safe and see if you still need to demolish after a year or so, you will have more of an idea then. Could always turn them into holiday lets!!

it starts of being a stone barn
then turns out to be  concrete block    and to cap it all they have not  purchased it yet
now to me a stone barn is just that walls several feet thick and constructed of stone local to the area   if it is constructed of concrete blocks it is easier and a lot cheaper to flatten it  if you  are lucky enough to buy the property. before you flatten it concider what you are going to replace it with you may be pleasantly supprised at how willing the planners are to your ideas if it looks a pile of s**** to you it will look even worse to the planners after all it is easier to replace old with new rather than try for new build where there was nothing before
