We have been rearing birds for meat & eggs over the last year or so and have had some really good results. produced a good dual purpose hybrid that is giving really good egg yeald from the girls and lovely really tasty gamey meat from the boys. We put an Ixworth cockrell to sussex hens producing white hybrid birds. these have been very healthy and vigorous right from hatching, strong well grown birds with good fertility and zero death rate on rearing under a mix of electric hen and heat lamp.
One of the 'boys' escaped the freezer and has been running with the main flock, he's about 8 months old now, well grown and a nice bird but he's not needed here, he's all white, a big boy, very Ixworth like in appearance except he has more tail than the Ixworth. Would make a good breeding prospect for someone looking to breed their own meat birds this year.
Thought I had a photo of him somewhere? anyway, here's a photo of some of the 'girls' from the same batch he was hatched from when they were coming up to POL (with dad on the right) to give you an idea of what the hybrids look like

We are near Carmarthen in West Wales. any questions, feel free to ask.
