I have our spring hatched pullets for sale. Now laying pullet eggs. They’ll likely lay right through their first winter for you.
Speckled Sussex are a beautiful, thrifty chicken. They lay well and do well whether penned or free range. These have been largely free ranging since they were little and are pretty friendly, following us round the place.
Speckled Sussex are a heritage breed and are thought to be one of the earliest types of Sussex.
£25 Ono.
We also have some fab crosses:
Speckled Sussex x Marrans which are phenotypically similar to the marrans, grey or black feathering. Heavier birds than the Sussex. The mothers have been excellent layers of dark eggs.
And 3/4 Speckled Sussex pullets which are all different colours and fancy crests! These will make someone very happy to watch as they are all beautiful and very differently coloured.
I like to maintain some crosses in the flock as I like the trait variation from hybrid vigour. It can sometimes mean eggs in the winter or birds who don’t go broody or simply behave differently. They also look exciting and my children get very excited about them!
We’re 10 minutes from Forfar (near Farnell) so could deliver to anyone who’s at the show at home time. Or welcome to come and view our birds at home.
