Hello from NE Scotland...
« on: August 24, 2022, 09:31:54 am »
Hi all,

Moved up here from England with family a few years ago, and have been dabbling in smallholdery stuff as work allows. There's been a fair bit of upheaval for me - the job went crazy busy, then there was a pandemic you may have heard about, then I was laid off, then I was a sole trader for a time, also I hurt my knee badly enough that I couldn't do DIY or any heavy lifting or any work involing kneeling...  :o

Anyway, knee is slowly but steadily improving, I have steady employment again (phew!), and I find that the more smallholding I do, the more I enjoy it. So I'm posting here to hang out virtually with fellow smallholders and hopefully get my head properly into the game. We have a few goats, a few chickens, and a polytunnel. Looking forward to chatting with you all  :)

Hi Seeker, welcome to the group, I have a few goats, chickens and a polytunnel 🤣. Actually too many goats, chickens have had the run of the polytunnel for a year or so, but now got them confined in one corner, a cage and run inside, with their loophole straight to outside. Lovely to have my poly back, but hard wdork clearing the junk that got piled in there. But got stuff growing so pleased with myself. Even salad greens from 2 years ago must have seeded and survived the onslaught of chuckchucks. Growing well among my veg.
Whereabouts are you? I lived near New Deer for a couple of years, in-laws lived near Mintlaw. We used to go to Peterhead shopping.

Yeah, same Seeker.

Well, similar.

Where do you stay?
