Can anyone help restore order?
« on: December 10, 2010, 10:27:12 am »
Well I have a collapsed barn roof needing replaced and the timbers of the attached main barn needing straightened back up.

There is a partially collapsed tree (conifer type but very big round kind) that needs the damaged sheared branches taking off and probably the rest taken down before it falls against the house :o

And there are 6-8 other conifers (more spruce/pine types) that could do with the tops taken off - could be used as Christmas trees!

Various other more routine jobs including digging out last year's dung from the bottom barn that still hasn't been done because nobody I know with a tractor/digger has had time ::)

I'm in North Fife and I can't afford a lot because I've not had any paying work since late October :o but will pay a reasonable amount for assistance or if there is anything I can do in return as a swap I'd be glad to discuss options..

I'm so sorry to hear about your disasters.  Doesn't everything just come at once  ???

In spite of what I have written elsewhere about our experiences, I suggest you try  http://www.helpx.net

Have a look at their website and if you decide to try them, put out an emergency call for help.  It's close to Christmas but you might get students in their vacation wanting to escape the rat race.  All they need is somewhere to sleep and full board.  As I have said, all the helpXers we had were lovely people.

I hope this helps.

Oh Ellied, If only you were closer to us (Wales) my OH could definitely help - we have all the necessary equipment here.  Hope you can get someone via Fleecewife's link above.  Good luck

Thanks but students aren't going to have the knowledge I need and I don't have the equipment hence needing to pay someone.  Also I only have 2 bedrooms here and am not keen to have someone living in that I don't know, not least because I'm not on public transport routes and the student would have to sit in my house when not working :o

Never mind, I'll keep asking locally and find someone to at least get one of the jobs done even if I have to live with the rest as is :)

you could try asking here with your location and what you need

I have a chain saw and could deal with your trees,  would not be till last week before Christmas if that would help a bit. would only want petrol money and a bite to eat and a blether.
