We have been raising some geese for the first time for christmas and the OH has just come back from work saying that a friend told him that we should worm our geese otherwise they wont make the weight,i havent wormed them they were born end June.
Now im getting worried they are a good size but should i worm them? if so how.

I have never wormed a goose but mine are free range and only feed the breeders when the ground is frozen anyway. The youngsters I have never fed but they only live when grass is good. If you want to worm use flubenvet, instructions will be on the tub. Watch for withdrawal times though as wormed poultry cannot be saughtered for a time afterwards. Personally now so close and they seem well I would not bother.

A good general purpose wormer for poultry (or any other livestock) is panacur. It has a very high safety margin and you can buy it in 500ml containers for goats. Work out the pro rata dose for geese and add it to their food. It's quite palatable so they'll eat it all right and it'll get rid of most internal parasites, including tapeworms.
