Hello, weve recently hatched a bunch of eggs from a local supplier which were supposed to be Bronzes but amongst the chicks were some blond turkeys.  Anybody know what these are, as i cant find anything on Dr. Google.

Either buff Turkey (beautiful and very rare nowadays), or Bourbon Red or some sort of crosses.

Either way they are nicer than Bronze, I.e. more practical, at least in that when they are plucked you cannot see their very lightly coloured pin feathers

Ahh thanks.  that certainly looks like them!  Strange though that the farm where we got the eggs, there are no buff turkeys there.  Its almost as if they were crossed at some point and these ones still look like pure buff.  We have one chick that is definitely half bronze and half buff.

Again, this was from the collection of eggs from the farm.  Im guessing his flock are a complete mixture of things and the offspring are variations of all sorts of breeds.

It's amazing what can come out in the mix. I have a small flock of Norfolk Blacks mainly used to produce Christmas dinners but I do sell some as breeding birds. My current stag produces good black birds but one of my previous ones surprised me one year by throwing out some white poults as well as black. The weird thing was I bred from that group for several years but only in the one year did I get white birds.
