Pig Language
« on: October 10, 2008, 07:26:53 pm »
Is it me or do Pigs have a language of their own, has anyone studied pig language? Mine talk a lot. When I go with food they say something like” what what what” and when I shut them up they are mumbling then they say “Hush” or something similar, then when I am digging they say ” me me me” they certainly sound like they have their own language and it is funny.

SORRY SANDY I COULDN'T RESIST!!!  :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig: :pig:

Are you just tempting Kev or what...... LOL But on a more serious note  I would have to agree, they make a noise I have never heard before when they are corralling their babies..

I read your message and thought it sounded familiar, I tell you what, I wish my chickens could spell and I would let them wright on this forum...for some very strange reason I keep missing out letters and getting them the wrong way around. Anyway, my daughter keeps pig's, I will ask her if her's talked as they have just been dispatched and no doubt I will be eating one soon.

I am a very naughty piggy person, but yes I agree Tweedle, they do make a unique noise when corralling their young.  The most impressive is when they are first born.  Without exception here, when a few hours old, which ever mum it might be, she will do that special grunting and all those newborns will come out for a wee and a poop - they have been known to be lined up in a straight line.  Quite amazing!

What pigs does your daughter keep Sandy?

Now I had better start behaving myself again or I will have Dan pm-ing me or banishing me to the forum of Kevs!

A pink one and a black one, sorry not sure but they were very big, I just thought of them as traditional pigs, she also has chikckens and ducks and last year she had cockerals and before that Turkies, they all tasted beautiful, our present last year was a cockeral but my partner had to prepare it first, no bow or wrapping paper. Sorry for my ignorance, I try.  Sandy
