I'm afraid I can't help with the sexing of them  :-[
But I had some a wee while ago (bought them on impulse at the mart cos I felt sorry for them) They are escape artists (or at least mine were !) getting out through a gap of less then an inch wide  :o I was also under the illusion that they couldn't fly - maybe they can't ? But they can jump 6 ft in the air when they want to ! Needless to say, mine went to live with a more experienced keeper who had plenty of others to keep them company. I think they do better in big groups and for every male you'll need 10-12 females to keep them busy or they'll fight with the other males - but having only had mine for 2 weeks I couldn't say for sure  ;)
There are a few folk on here keep them though, so hopefully you'll get more advice.
Good luck, Karen

when sexually mature, the males produce "foam" and the roundish vent part sticks out more ... so take a good look at their "bits!"
there's some good pics here ....  http://www.coturnixcorner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17
