We've started getting eggs which have a slightly sloppy white when cooked, not the nice firm texture we used to get.  Any ideas?  The girls are about two and a half years old.  Laying has reduced which I'm not too concerned about.  Sometimes shells are fine and sometimes a bit nobbled.  State of shell does not seem to make any difference to whites though.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

they may have picked up a bug. if its the one that im thinking of its not treatable. i just can't remember its name.

Infectious Brochitis will cause it.
There's no treatment. Birds do recover but may never be good layers again.
Have you noticed any respiratory problems with them?
We think one of our may have had it, which makes no sense really as it's an isolated case and the virus is infectious. And we didn't notice any breathing problems with her.
It's the only explanation we could find though.

It's usually vaccinated against along with the Newcastle vaccine, but it's not always effective.

No, no other symptoms at all.  They seem incredibly healthy!  I'll just have to hope it goes away and see what happens I suppose.  Thanks.
