Hello from South Yorkshire
« on: January 27, 2018, 01:41:33 pm »
I am just a youngster here - today being my 75th birthday.  I celebrated by spending 1.5 hours trying to find out why my surface water spring wasn't delivering any water - such fun.
We have kept livestock and grown fruit and veg. since the mid 70s on our own account but my Grandad had a 2.5 acre 'garden' with chickens, fruit and veg. and my Dad kept rabbits for meat.
We have kept rabbits, dairy goats, Angora goats (Christine is a judge of Angora goats), pigs - we built up to 13 sows and a boar - and we used to buy a couple of weaner  calves and grow them on to 18 months.  Eventually we got fed up of all the rules and regulations and we just stick to fruit and veg.
On 1.25 acres we ave 19 top fruit trees, bush fruit, cane fruit and vegetables plus brambles bracken and nettles in abundance.
I hope external references are in order, but here goes.

I am happy to help if I can.  There are many excellent allotmenteers on YouTube - I would particularly recommend Charles Dowding who specialises in no-dig systems.

 from Shropshire. Love your pictures especially the dog. We've got one that usually has a toy in his mouth.
