I understand your struggle with the cade lambs, we have had MANY! One trick I find works is once the teat is in the lambs mouth gently put your hand around their nose and gently push up and down (this is hard to explain!) usually the small amount of pressure on their nose helps to encourage them to drink. Another thing I usually try is tickling their tail or just above it which makes them think it is their mum nuzzling them.

I knew this pet lamb thing was going a bit too well!

He's started scouring now. Looks a bit like the gravy you get with a chow mein (apologies to anybody browsing TAS whilst eating a takeaway!).  He's still bright enough at the moment, and I've given him some live yoghurt. Is there anything else I can do for him?  :-[

Spectam. Worked for ours on vet's advice. Used daily for 3 days as I remember.

Thanks H!  I'd completely forgotten I'd posted this.  As it was, I think the yoghurt sorted him out. He didn't poo at all overnight so I didn't bother the vet. He's still bouncing around three days later, so  :fc: everything's ok now.

 I only noticed the date after I posted, so hoped things had sorted themselves out!

Live yoghurt is a wonderous thing.  I must remember to keep some ready as pet lambs will start arriving any day now...

I've started putting a spoonful or two of yoghurt in the milk whenever I make it up. Best of all, I get to lick the spoon!  :roflanim:
