Had a drive by Broom farm house, it looks lovely and seemed so reasonably priced.
However a not very happy man came out, After we chatted for a while he was fine, he explained the reason behind his unhappiness.
Basically, the property is owed by the coal board who are selling however, his 96 year old mother has a life tenancy, so will be there till she moves on so to speak.
They are having to show prospective buyers around, although once they see that it comes with his mother it does not seem such a great deal... Typical as we drove up the road to the house we got 'that feeling' about the place..

If I'd gone to view that house I'd complain to the Coal Board for wasting my time.  That is downright immoral!!

Had I gone to view, I may not be best pleased after 4 hours travelling to realise there was a sitting tenant.

Down here, its announced in the particulars of the farm, or house, and even announced on the for sale board that it is tenanted.  And usually this reflects in the price.

To be fair it did make mention of the tenancy i the particulars, just that i didn't know what it actually meant. We had just went for a wee look, sure CKD would have made this clear if we had made an appointment.
I was just surprised that they thought anyone would want to by a house like this with a sitting tenant, fair enough if it was a flat....

I noticed it mentioned the sitting tenant in the brochure, and realised what it meant. It did also specify that the selling agents had more details on it. To be fair, I still think it's got a lot going for it. And after all, if she's 96, how much longer will be she be there? I know thats a not very nice way of looking at it, but if helps someone get on the smallholding ladder a bit more easily, then surely thats good.
