Allocation of CPH for Sheep movement...
« on: August 09, 2015, 02:35:47 pm »
Wanting to move my sheep to a paddock a few villages away (further than 5 miles unfortunately). Belongs to my OH's parents and doesn't have a CPH, I do obviously.

RPW said I need a 3 thousand number? Assuming they are able to then link my CPH with the paddock, RPW said it lasts for 12 months.

Filling the form out, where do I get Parish, sheet reference and field number from?? also, a separate box asks for field size and Ha/acre. Is that literally the diameter of the field and acreage?

Just to clarify, it also asks 'Are the sheep being moved on tack?' is this purely grazing?

Thanks in advance,

Gareth

I guess from the lack of replies everyone is busy or we are all as confused as you are.  I can help with some of your question but not all, probably worth phoning the help number, they do help sometimes!  Parish should give you the location. We just put acreage on ours not diameter. On tack like a lot of the questions are really aimed at the big farms so as far as I know makes little difference how you answer that one.

sorry....I didn't even understand the questions! I don't know what a 3 thousand number is. I don't know what moving on tack means. Ive no idea where you would get a field number from.  :dunce:
Is it time to retire yet?

Hi Gareth.

Not sure if you’ve had help with your dilemma.

I would suggest that all the information you require with regards to the field in question would be on the ownership deeds. Alternatively any Agricultural Estate Agent would help (for a fee) as most normally keep OS Maps and field maps for the area they cover, you obviously know which Parish the field is in and you could help the Agent locate the field on the map.

Field size is exactly that! As declared on the map in Acres and Hectares, nothing to do with diameter.

With regards to ‘moving sheep to tack?’ In our area ‘tack’ is the term we use for ‘sending sheep away to another holding for wintering’.

I’ve no idea about the 3000 number, but when I obtained a temporary holding number, which is what you’ll be given (12 months), mine was an 8000 number (CPH – XX-XXX-8000).

I don’t know your location, but I’m in Mid Wales and I contacted the Welsh Assembly Office at Caernarfon and they were extremely helpful.

I can understand Animal Health Dept. wanting the information, but I’m not sure why the RPA need the details, maybe I’m wrong, but as you don’t have a CPH for the field, you wouldn’t have declared it on your SAF2015, therefore you will not be getting any payments as a result of grazing the field.

I hope some of the above is of help to you.

Topics like this where members come on here asking for advice, then can't be bothered to respond to posts, really irritate me!  >:(
