Candling eggs

I'm on day 6 (5 with my late egg), and I've just candles (for the first time ever .. *so* exciting!)
The first egg had definite veins running through it - *gasps with amazement*.
The second egg is bigger, the shell seemed too thick to see through.
The third egg, the 5th day egg, seemed empty.
I used a proper Candler and a dark room.
I shall try thro last egg again tomorrow.
Opinions please...

Are you holding the candler at the bottom of the egg, this will enable you to see more clearly.

I struggle to see much until day 8 Ponylady, so leave candling until then. We count the day eggs go into the incubator as day zero.

I now wait until day 10 to candle. Its a lot easier to tell fertility by that stage.
I thought your eggs were Cream Legbars?? They should be easy to candle....not like Copper Marans, which I just cant see at all
Is it time to retire yet?

I always resist candling until day 10. Saves days of worrying ;-)
