Win some, lose some.

We have had a pretty good lambing this year. Got 13 lambs from 7 ewes (including 2 ewe lambs) although one born weak and died the day it was born. Even the ewe who was barren last year had a lovely couple of ewe lambs (think she heard me talking about culling her!). All finished over 2 months ago.
Then out of the blue last week one of the ewe lambs just laid down and died. Found her in the morning with all the others where they sleep under the tree. The rest got up, she didn't. :'(
Friday I came home from work to find a brand new ram lamb! Looks tiny compared to his much older siblings but is actually a cracking lamb and mum is doing well, particularly as she is only a ewe lamb I had clearly wrongly thought I had managed to keep apart from the tup so hasn't had any particular extra care.

Back to my round dozen. :innocent:

Sudden deaths this time of year often down to pasteurella in this area.  Very small window where you might spot a lamb feeling a bit poorly.  First symptom usually sudden death.  Watch out for flystrike with the new lamb - they love meconium.
