My parents have lent me the money to purchase a trailer, so I bought an older ten foot ifir Williams with decks. I love it.

I have been advised to have some sort of mark on it, name, postcode or something in the event of it being stolen then it can be easily identified. It has the pervious farm name scrubbed out on it, and like it recovered. But unsure what to put on it, does anyone else bother? What do you put on yours? We don't own a farm, so can't put a farm name or anything on

We hadn't thought of this, but it would be a good idea to have a hidden ID mark, nowhere obvious, so if your trailer is stolen and recovered you have proof it's yours.  The thieves wouldn't know where it was so couldn't scrub it off.

You can also use an EID - I have one on my motorbike, injected into the seat.  There should be somewhere on your trailer you could secrete one - inside the jockey wheel maybe, or inside the tubing?

We have our smallholding name plus the breed on the side, but it's on removable panels.  You could paint or stencil on your flock name, or your own name, plus breed.

We only have a flock of 30 commercial highs, plus associated lambs. I think I need to branch into pedigree sheep to feel important enough to have a flock name  . Mum suggested my initials and last name then livestock, as I'm not intending to jut stay at sheep. I'm not convinced,

I have heard of people painting their postcode on the roof. Also if you have any wooden bits you canget a brbranding iron from Thornes (bee equipment) with the lettering you want

Do the police not do an ultraviolet pen type thingy to put your postcode on things like bikes etc. If on the chassis you could prove its yours if stolen and thieves unlikely to know its there to try to destroy our hide the marking.

Put your postcode on it in several places.  Also either your surname or house number as postcodes cover several properties.

We bought our postcode in adhesive vinyl letters about a foot high and stuck them on the roof. Then we moved house and added the second postcode. The original from nearly 20 years ago remains clear and irremoveable. But we also added Datatags cos we have lots of bad people around here. 


The point is to get them to nick another one, not mine, by making it harder, slower, riskier.

We got stuff from the Police that is DNA marked to your holding. It's invisible, virtually undetectable. But a visible mark will act as a deterrent too

Our horse trailer has a postcode in big letters on the roof, not ours mind as we bought it from a friend  makes it easy to be seen from above if stolen apparently
