Hi there,

My three hens are fairly old and have packed in laying!  Therefore I'm looking for three or so laying hens or point of lay. I live between Monmouth and Abergavenny.

If you have any hens for sale, or can point me in the right direction of some, I would be very grateful.

The last lot I bought from AJR Poultry, does anyone know if they're still trading?

I am really close to where you are (just outside Abergavenny). I don't think AJR are trading now - there have been for sale signs up for a while and the poultry pens have been cleared away when I drove past last week. However in terms of other options- I got some brilliant hens from Sal's poultry who are between Aber and Usk. Stewart Newham there has a professional set up and does a range of breeds - I got POL Cream Crested Legbars and Buff Sussex from him just under two years ago and they are still all going strong.

Hi Gavin,

If you are still looking for hens, I have a number of gold laced orpington crosses and you are welcome to have 3 for free if you are happy to come and collect them - we are about 5 miles from Hereford heading towards Bromyard.

They hatched last July and lay blue eggs. I have too many chickens at the moment (getting 12 plus eggs/day!) so happy to see them go free to a good home.
