Lanark poultry sale Thursday 19 March
« on: March 15, 2015, 09:24:10 am »
A friend and I are thinking about going to our first poultry auction. I can't find any info online about viewing times/auction times. Also I assume that at an auction you cannot handle birds (stress, risk of escapees). Maybe if the seller was nearby during viewing and you appeared to be a serious buyer they would let you examine vent etc

The catalogue will be on line a day or two before sale and that will give you times etc. You will very rarely get a chance to handle the birds before buying as the pens are cable tied shut. My advice is take judges stick so you can turn the birds and have a good look at them it's all about condition.
