We take the pigs to a lot of shows over the summer and the costs vary greatly. Some of the smaller shows only charge £2 per animal entered and this gets you two exhibitors tickets and parking whereas Joe Public have to pay £8 each at the gate.
The big shows are a whole different ball game for example to go to Three Counties last year with 3 pigs cost £89 to enter, put on top of that diesel (we live in Yorkshire) and staying over for 3 nights (we camped) We won the princely sum of £23! The Cheshire cost £53 to enter and we won £52. The GYS cost £25 per adult this year and i went 2 days, however some friends have a memberes badge and as they were away i used that but it would have been an expensive do otherwise.
Lots of shows are still trying to recover losses from the appalling bad summer 2yrs ago. I think people will be more choosy about which shows they go to according to finances.  A lot of shows have gone because of public liability and general insurance costs as well as running costsl eg The Royal, the Royal Lancashire, Hatfield and the East of England to name 4 big ones fallen by the way side.
I love the shows and am already planning for next year! ;D
Off to Egton this Wednesday and we'll be at Westmoreland on 11th Sept.

I have to agree with Rosemary, the cost of puting on a  show is through the roof so entry fees have gone up. I no longer go to so many due to cost which is a shame but like everyone bills need paying so there is not much left for enjoying events sad to say.

We have a trade stand which we take to a lot of the major shows on the circuit and over the years we have seen a decline in the number of people attending them.  At the Royal Norfolk this year it was £26 per adult, and that's without paying for the children and food etc for a family day out...
The cost of the trade stand varies a lot too, from £100 plus vat per metre frontage (we are 9 metres!), to £50 for the day.
