Ideas for Goats milk

Any suggestions for Goats milk ?
We are getting 20 ltrs  a day and the ones we want to dry up are refusing point Blank ! You can only freeze so much before it becomes a nuisance  when you want something else out of the freezers  ::)

Apart from the obvious of cheese, butter and yoghurt, you can make soap as people on here do and, apparently, candles.

whats the regs regarding selling milk? I know we can't sell unpasteurised here in Scotland but you might be able to or buy a pasteuriser. I get loads of requests for it
we make cheese, and I make soap for the house when we have a bit extra  ;D

You can only sell it marked for animal consumption. Of course, what people choose to do with it once they've bought it is up to them.

Making cheese is the obvious answer, but needs more or less a whole day set aside to do a couple of batches. However things like Feta or even just soft cheese are quick and easy. Feta can be preserved in olive oil for quite  a while, and you can freeze the soft cheese - less in volume terms than milk would be!

A cream separator and then ice cream is what we do a lot of, but I am waiting until our pigs arrive later this autumn to have an outlet for the skimmed milk.

Pigs really are your answer for that quantity of milk at this time of year. Are they not feeding any kids any more? What about a calf or two?

Pigs are cheaper than a separator !! and tasty of course. Soft cheese is a good option and quick to make. Never made soap so don't know the process or time it takes. Just don't let it get on top of you, you could sell it as milk for puppies  without worrying about pasteurisation etc: good luck whatever you decide.

Pigs are not an option at the moment. The area we usually keep them needs to be refenced  and at the moment health wise I can't do it
Cheese is an option as we love it ,we will have to look into a separator as we make a lot of ice cream, that way we could use our own cream
I thought soap only used a tiny amount of soap ?

Cheese will use up way more milk than soap does.

You just need to tweak recipes to boost the milk content... and then rigidly check it against a 'soap calc' to make sure you are not lye heavy.

The soap-making does look quite complicated. Goats' milk candles, on the other hand, look very simple.
