BEC Wise Feeder advice
« on: August 03, 2014, 08:41:34 am »
Hi Everyone
Does anyone have any experience of using the BEC Wise Feeder for poultry?  They are meant to be vermin proof.
We are having such awful problems with Jackdaws and other wild birds that I'm considering buying a couple.  They're a bit on the expensive side though and it would help to know if they really work.  We've tried all sorts of other stunts to solve the problem and are now a bit desperate.
Thanks all

I had one. awful blinking thing, just wasn't weather proof and in the awful summer we had last year, the food would just get wet, full of slugs etc. horrid to clean out as well-very difficult to get all food out of and of course, when food gets wet it goes mouldy so I was doing it all the time. threw it away in the end. might work somewhere dry or in a covered pen alright but no good for rain at an angle.I also had to bungee the lid on as the slightest breeze meant it would come off.

small wild birds can still feed out of them, after having one I can't see how they are mouse proof tbh.

Thank you for that Lord Flynn - I would have to have two so it would be quite an expensive mistake to make!
