Off to view a trailer today, any tips on making sure I don't buy something dodgy? Dad is trying to convince me it needs to have paperwork

I've only ever bought a new one Jamie12. Went for an Ivor Williams because they hold their value so well. It came with an instruction manual, receipt and registration details, so it is now on their database and ownership can be checked. Trailer theft is commonplace, so it helps a lot if you can be sure the person selling it is the legal owner. It should have a chassis number on a proper plate and, in the case of Ivor Williams, that number is also cut through the main chassis member near the tow hitch so it can't be tampered with.
