Energy Ombudsman/complaints
« on: July 03, 2014, 05:55:29 pm »
We have an ongoing with NPower, to summarise very briefly, our meter was changed then we moved out of the property but remained responsible for it, NPower refused to acknowledge the change of meter, and take account of the property being empty, and we were unable to submit online meter readings as due the meter change, it would have looked like we had used loads and loads.  Since Feb 2013, we have used 450 units (as the house was empty), but NPower are saying we have used around 10000. We believe they owe us around £700, they say we owe them around £350.  We first contacted them after receiving our bill in July last year, when it became clear they had not recorded the change of meter and have phoned on a very regular basis since then.  Today I gave up and phoned the Energy Ombudsman, who were very helpful, so hopefully we will get sorted, but my reason for posting to say is that they can only help within one year of you first raising the issue.  We JUST phoned in time, but it would have been very easy to have missed this time.

So, if you have an energy issue, PLEASE:

- complain in writing as soon as it is not reasonably resolved
- if 8 weeks after writing it is still not sorted to your satisfaction, ring the Ombudsman straight away.

Thank you .... may have need of this ..... EDI thinks we have economy 7 meter .... which we obviously haven't!  (their meter reader couldn't even find it ..ho  ho!)   Despite several phone calls during which it is obvious they really don't know what to charge us (no bill since last Oct ... but a DD going out every month!)  Will get on to it!!

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

..and to anyone that has rental/empty houses, be aware that most providers now charge a daily fee rather than amount used. we got stung when our house was empty for 12 weeks, instead of a bill for about £2 as the trip switch was turned off, it was a £100 for absolutely nothing.
complete rip off.
