Heptavac-P Strichen
« on: May 13, 2014, 04:07:12 pm »
We've just opened a 50ml bottle of Heptavac-P and there is enough left for approx 8 lambs if anyone wants it.  Good for another 8 hours.

We are near Fraserburgh.

Hi Sharon,
I'm a bit late this time, but please keep me in mind next time you are going to jab them.  We are Nr Methlick, I have 5 to do and my friend up the road has 3. Obviously will share costs, but best it will be good not to waste any for a change.

What a shame, it would have been perfect for you.  We are done this year, although we do have one lamb left that was a surprise, but next year I'll give you a shout before we get started.

Thanks Brucklay, that's very kind of you.  He won't be old enough until 28th May so if that happens to coincide with when you are doing yours, let me know.

I think I will be doing mine around the end of the month so I will have some spare too.  Offer goes to anyone who needs some, I'm only doing 8 lambs total so if anyone is close enough and has about the same timing let me know.

Will definetly have to optimise the timing and contact next year.  Do you give boosters to your sheep before they lamb too?

We haven't done in the past, but TBH this is the first time we have ever vaccinated, so we may do boosters next time.  Over the years we have lost a few big healthy lambs for no apparent reason so we thought we would give it a try.

So far (touch wood) we haven't lost a single lamb this year.

Agree, next year we should co-ordinate and save ourselves some money.

We do our lambs and goats with Lambiva and ovipast once the youngest lamb is old enough - they get a second dose after 4-6 weeks (of one or both can't remember - will have to look up) and last years lambs get done too, then last years lambs and the ewe's get done in Feb with Heptivac pre lambing.

Thought this plan would suit me with the goats and cover all bases  :fc:

I'm all in for joining in for vaccinations

We have goats too, so it sounds like we all have a plan for next year's vaccinations :excited:

Also, in case anyone is not aware there is a man quite local who will do scans on small numbers of ewes at a reasonable cost.  We had ours done for the first time and it was very useful, if not 100% accurate.

Sorry  have I understood this correctly  lambs 2x lambivac  and ovipast   then as ewe hoggs an annual booster of same    ok  so far     ,              then in lamb gimmers and ewes  one dose of  heptavac p     ??    why the change of product               to make heptavac work effectively it would need two doses 4-6wks apart

 you could happily just use lambivac and ovipast on your ewes
