chopped egg for new chicks.
« on: May 02, 2014, 06:46:48 pm »
I started giving my chicks some chopped hard boiled egg as a starter and a treat.  Do you think it a good idea to give it every day or is that a bit much?  They love the stuff and cant get enough greedy little chicks. Didnt know if too much egg is bad for them.

We give them a small spot of probiotic yoghurt to kick their digestive system at day two and then only chick crumb. Many years ago I read chicks were fed on mashed egg to start them as it is high in protein. Normally chicks would be scratching about and picking up mums poo with the enzymes in the process.

I'm a novice at this but I gave mine chopped hard boiled egg for a couple of weeks. It worked well for me and them.

When I was a child we always gave them hard boiled egg to begin with- only for a few days though as I recall.
