I saw lidls were selling whole legs of salted pork in a box for £40.
12mths matured, salted and (I guess) dried. it did say surface mould is expectant.
I was wondering if it was similar to what others on here are doing with their air-dried meat? I cant mind the name as it was foreign.

Whereabouts are you? I didn't see anything like that at "our" Lidl (Montrose) yesterday... Would be interested to know the name if you can get hold of it somehow.

This wasn't about buying, this was about looking at it and seeing how it was done!

I would never buy anything like that, anyway; I'd eat off it for a year...

And btw, Lidl sell more local (ie Scottish) products than for example the Coop.

yes, its more of market research for those who sell pork. maybe a niche market for someone if it sells well and is a "luxury" product.
how is £40 comparable to a fresh leg of pork?

I love serrano ham, although it is an acquired taste.  £40 quid is about right for a whole leg of what is a luxury product. You should be able to get a whole leg of pork for about £20.
