I picked up some a/b for one of my girls from the vets, and haven't injected i/m for some time.  The vet said to make a triangle - spine, hip and rump.

Would I stand beside her and go down into the rump from above or stand behind her and go in that way.

I don't mind vaccinating but hate the i/m - my girls are such wimps as well (makes 2 of us)!!!

After having had to do 6 injections a day for 2 weeks last year with my goat with listeria - have got it sorted!  Top of neck just after  the shoulder bone to the left or right - you just go straight down.

Someone told me once that it is better there than the rump as the sciatic nerve can be hit on the rump.

If you google injecting a sheep/goat, there are some good pictures and videos to watch.

Once you've chosen your spot, check with a good prod that there's plenty of muscle under there.  Hitting bone will mean having to try again.

 As mentioned be careful near the spine.I know of people who have had vets do the job and ended up with paralised goats

I always worried that jabbing at the top of the neck was dangerous, but I watched a goat postmortem last year and the vet showed me that in fact the spine is way down from the top of the neck - I now just think "neck chops" to remember this!
