I'm trying to identify good sources of weaners in the North Pennines - mainly just to get a couple for myself sometime in April.

However I'm also hoping to gather a wide range of reliable information so I can make it available for others via the North Pennines Smallholders website.

So far I've only had replies from a couple of places but other pig breeder websites which looked very promising at first but have not even responded to my emails. I didn't think it would be this tough to find someone in the local area selling weaners for fattening so maybe that's a sign of a good business opportunity for me?  ???

Any suggestions?

Not the North Pennines but there is someone keeps free range pigs just out of wolsingham. I cant for the life of me remember if they are large whites or large blacks  :-\ . I know he advertises weaners from time to time
Then there is a breeder of saddlebacks in Co Durham

Thanks for the tip about Wolsingham - after a little Googling I think that must be David Pike at Heartwell Farm.

A little further research on TAS seems to show that the user "arborexplora" might be the one for Saddlebacks in County Durham

So long as they're in the general area of the North Pennines then that's good enough for me. The main concern in my mind would have to be the travel time/distance for transporting livestock.

Well Wosingham is only 26 miles away from you and considering we have to do 35 miles round trip  to go  to tescos up here 26 miles  is classed as Local   :roflanim:
